Fine art photography can be very literal, sometimes too much so. Painters have a broad spectrum of techniques and media with which to convey the essence and nuances of their subjects. Photographers can emulate painterly interpretations to pleasing effect. In doing so, they are simply extending the art through a different medium rather than creating an ‘illegitimate’ painting. Some images just look better without the abrupt precision of photography. Some benefit from an impressionistic feel. This gallery contains photographic captures which have been crafted to present such characteristics.
